I Found My Vision!!!

July 29, 2006

I can’t tell you how many times lately that I have been having trouble concentrating when I am at work. I recently was reading in John Maxwell’s book, Leadership 101 the Pareto Principle. I discussed this principle in my blog, Tools of the VA. The principle basically states that 20% of what you do will give you 80% of your production.

Lately, my to do list has been long! I have had trouble focusing. Why? I believe that the enemy (satan) is trying to distract me into my God given assignment. God wants me to focus on His priorities for that day — even if it is only 1, 2, or 10.

I read today in Romans 12:11: “Never be lazy in your work, but serve the Lord enthusiastically.” But before that verse, it keyed in on one of my gifts in Romans 12:7: “If your gift is that of serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, do a good job of teaching.” I know that I am to serve others, that’s why I’m a Virtual Assistant. I know that God has called me to this position. I have a degree in Marketing, but I am finding that God wants me to serve Christian Entrepreneurs to help them complete their vision and if my marketing degree gets thrown in there — all the better.

My vision is to help other people attain their vision! WOW! I found it.

Now back to the lazy verse. I’ve been lazy. I admit it! There it is out in the open. I can now go forward. Thank you Lord! I have the ability to do all that you have called me to for today. I am leaning on you!

Today I finally figured out why we stand everytime we read the Bible in church. I found a nugget today in my reading. It is found in Nehemiah:

Nehemiah 8:5-6, 8
And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people, for he was standing above all the people; and when he opened it, all the people stood up. And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. Then all the people answered, “Amen, Amen!” while lifting up their hands. And they bowed their heads and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground.

8 So they read distinctly from the book, in the Law of God; and they gave the sense, and helped them to understand the reading.

How many times have I wondered why we stand up during the reading of God’s word? Now I now — it’s biblical.

Thank you Lord for showing me something new!

The Stand

July 18, 2006

This is something I wrote in November 10, 2003 (slight modification). With all the news lately regarding the Middle East, I think it is important for today!

Ephesians 6:11
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

_________________________________________________

Every day I know that the devil is always trying to attack me, but for some reason the intensity is much stronger than in the past. But I know that I have a hedge of protection around me because of whose I Am!

In the Strong’s concordance it describes the following for wiles:

(3180) – methodeia, n. – scheming, craftiness, strategy

The devil has a strategy for everything he does. That is why it is so important that we place God’s armour on us so that we can fight. The Lord is a warrior (Exodus 15:3a NIV). The Lord wants us to fight against the thief who comes only to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10a). The Lord has given us His armour to stand up against the thief. We cannot fight the devil ourselves, but only when we put on God’s armour can we stand. The bible doesn’t say — FIGHT — it says STAND!

Focus and Your Mind

July 14, 2006

I was reading yesterday one chapter in Stormie Omartian’s book, “The Power of a Praying Woman”. In it she gives some great insight from the bible that I would like to share.

“When the thoughts that you think begin to question and contradict God’s Word, you are being set up by your enemy…Certain thoughts may appear to you to be accurate, but when you hold them up next to God’s Word, the lie is exposed.”

Later on she says:

“You have a choice about what you will accept into your mind and what you won’t. You an choose to take every though captive and ‘let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus’ (Philippians 2:5), or you can allow the devil to feed you lies and manipulate your life. Every sin begins as a thought in the mind”

You have to rebuke the thoughts of satan by remembering that you have the mind of Christ. Speak to satan now and rebuke the thoughts he is trying to tell you. Remember Phillipians 4:8…

And now, dear brothers and sisters, let me say one more thing as I close this letter. Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. (NLT)

Our Purpose / Vision

July 10, 2006

Okay — I’m back on my purpose/vision.

Yesterday, my pastor taught on Unhealthy Comparisons (1 Samuel 18:4-12). God has placed within each of us a purpose. We are to run our own personal course with our spirit and God’s spirit, We are not to run after what someone else is doing. We are to run after what God’s voice is saying to us.

We must be sensitive to the stage/time right now. We must know that we are successful.

“Success is walking in the gift that God has given you and you are comfortable being there”
T.D. Jakes

When we understand our purpose it frees us from being jealous or comparing ourselves to anyone. We are not to take our cue from other people but run according to what He has shown us.

My prayer is that the Lord continues to show me my purpose. I also pray that your purpose will be revealed to you, that you grab hold of it and run the race!

My Shield of Faith

July 5, 2006

But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.
Psalms 3:3 (NLT)

I’ve got to remember who is my shield. It is the Lord. I have to remember to use my shield of FAITH. Because Faith is the substance of things hoped for — the evidence of things not seen. Those things in the eternal will last much longer than what we see here on earth. Oh that I could see the shield that surrounds me, but that is what Faith is all about. Trusting.

I was reading this morning in the New Living Translation and saw these
Words. It made my heart sing and I wanted to share it with you!

Isaiah 43:10
“But you are my witness, O Israel!” says the Lord. “You are my servant. You have been chosen to know me, believe in me, and understand that I alone am God. There is no other God – there has never been, and there never will be.”

Now that’s exciting, but it is what is a few verses down that just blows me away!

Isaiah 43:13
From eternity to eternity I am God. No one can snatch anyone out of my hand. No one can undo what I have done.

I love it. No one. No way. No how! That means I am eternally safe with God. Thank you Lord Jesus. I praise and magnify your name today!

God is so good! He is gracious and kind.

Recently, I found out that our choir had to sing at the church’s 10th Anniversary. I was a little upset because to be honest, I didn’t want to do it. But, this morning God reminded me of why I should be there.

In Psalms 149:1
“Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song. Sing His praises in the assembly of the faithful.”

My job is to do His will. His will is that I glorify Him in the church. So, thank you Lord for being gracious and loving and kind. Thank you for showing me why I need to be there this weekend.

Looking forward to today!

In His Grace,
Johnnie
