I Surrender

April 12, 2007

“So no one can become my disciple without giving up everything for me.”
Luke 14:33 (NLT)

I read this yesterday and this is what I wrote in my journal:

When we give up everything for Jesus He returns it back to us in this life and in the life to come. It is the act of surrendering that Jesus is interested in. When we surrender we place our entire existence into that person’s hand. Because God is a loving God He is well able to return to us those things which are good for us. It doesn’t always have to be possessions. Many times it is a new perspective on things. God is so gracious and kind.

Reminds me of how when I was a young teen before getting saved, and attending church regularly, all I ever picked up was the usual perception of Christianity being about a list of do’s and don’t’s and the prospect of giving my life to God in any shape or form scaring me because I was just starting to really enjoy it!! When God grabbed me and pulled me into the Kingdom at the tender age of 14, all that changed, but what I discovered rather rapidly was that while certainly I was now faced with a lot of activities in my life that were no longer really acceptable, it wasn’t the huge big challenge to stop them that I had perceived it to be. If anything, as time has gone on since then, I’ve noticed more and more that I can apply that now to ANY aspect of my Christian walk – no matter what area – if He is calling me to undertake something for Him, He will provide me with the desire to do it willingly and to not stress on it.

I look at some of my non Christian friends and family, and recognise that for them too, the whole thing falls on this concept of surrender – goes against our human nature to do that to anyone for anything. And they too think that to give their lives to God means giving up everything they want to do. If they only realised that what they want to do will never make them happy, whereas what God wants them to do WILL, they’d be falling over themselves to submit NOW! Surrender to God as you have rightly stated grants a whole new perspective on life and a future that could never have been imagined before that point.

So for anyone sitting on the fence on this issue – don’t wait – time is seriously running out here – make that decision today and SURRENDER now!! Blessings, TKR.

  2. Thank you for your comments TKR.

You are so right when you say, “make that decision today and SURRENDER now!!!”

    Time is short.
