No one needed to tell him what mankind is really like.
John 2:25

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1Corinthians 2:14

And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
1 John 3:24

Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
1 John 4:13

The life we enter into after receiving Christ is one that seeks after God’s own heart. When we seek after God’s heart, He changes us through His Holy Spirit.

The mankind that Jesus referred to in John 2:25 is the mankind of the flesh. The one we were originally born into because of the sin of the first Adam. Shortly after Jesus said these words He speaks to Nicodemus in the middle of the night and speaks of being “born of the Spirit”. This is not a coincidence.

When we read Galatians we realize the mankind that Jesus is talking about in John 2:25:

When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Galatians 5:19-21

When we enter the regenerated man through the Holy Spirit we have the following in our lives:

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
Galatians 5:22-23

Paul tells us:

So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.
Galatians 5:16-18

Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.
Galatians 5:25

I’m praying for you to let the Holy Spirit lead your day! Let Him increase within you and yourself be decreased.
