Morsels From God

And having chosen them, he [God] called them to come to him. And he gave them right standing with himself, and he promised them his glory.
Romans 8:30

Do you realize that first you were chosen and then you were called? It was our job to accept the call. Thank God he knew that we would respond!

The Greek word in this text is Ejklektov (transliterated as Eklektos). It means the following:
1) Picked out, chosen

a. Chosen by God,

1. to obtain salvation through Christ (1a)

b. Christians are called “chosen or elect” of God

1. The Messiah is called “elect”, as appointed by God to the most exalted office conceivable

2.Choice, select, i.e. the best of its kind or class, excellence preeminent; applied to certain individual Christians.
