Planted Along a Riverbank

October 11, 2007

But blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they go right on producing delicious fruit.
Jeremiah 17:7-8

Set My Face

September 26, 2007

Oh that you had listened to my commands! Then you would have peace flowing like a gentle river and righteousness rolling like waves.
Isaiah 48:18

The Sovereign LORD has given me his words of wisdom, so that I know what to say to all these weary ones. Morning by morning he wakes me and opens my understanding to his will.
Isaiah 50:4

Because the Sovereign LORD helps me, I will not be dismayed. Therefore, I have set my face like a stone, determined to do his will. And I know that I will triumph.
Isaiah 50:7

Instead, there must be spiritual renewal of your thoughts and attitudes. You must display a new nature because you are a new person, created in God’s likeness – righteous, holy and true.
Ephesians 4:23-24

My prayer for today:
Thank you Father for what you have done in my life. Morning by morning you wake me and open my understanding to your will. I will continually renew my mind because you have given me your Holy Spirit. My thoughts and my attitudes are lining up with your word. I am setting my face like a stone — determining to do your will. Teach me to see, hear and do your commands so that I may have peace like a gentle river and righteousness rolling like waves. Thank you that I display to others a new nature because I am yours created in your likeness – righteous, holy and true. For I know with you all things are possible and I will triumph for all the good things that you have placed within me. Thank you Adonai! In Jesus name I pray. Amen — and it is so.

Love of Christ

September 24, 2007

May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Ephesians 3:19

The Father’s Love Letter:

Out of a Stump…

September 12, 2007

Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot – yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root. And the Spirit of the LORD will rest on him – the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. He will delight in obeying the LORD. He will never judge by appearance, false evidence, or hearsay. He will defend the poor and the exploited. He will rule against the wicked and destroy them with the breath of his mouth. He will be clothed with fairness and truth.
Isaiah 11:1-5

When I read about the stump I think of something that was  dead. Most stumps have been cut down from trees that were either weak or dead. We were once stumps that were dead to Christ. But the Spirit of God caused the spirit that He placed within us to sprout out from that stump into a life with Christ.

We have been called to the new Branch bearing fruit. We have the fruit of the Spirit within us. Below is a reminder of what the fruit of the Spirit is for you today. Write them on your heart for there is no law against these things:

  • love
  • joy
  • peace
  • patience
  • kindness
  • goodness
  • faithfulness
  • gentleness
  • self-control

(Galatians 5:22-23)
