My Shield of Faith

July 5, 2006

But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.
Psalms 3:3 (NLT)

I’ve got to remember who is my shield. It is the Lord. I have to remember to use my shield of FAITH. Because Faith is the substance of things hoped for — the evidence of things not seen. Those things in the eternal will last much longer than what we see here on earth. Oh that I could see the shield that surrounds me, but that is what Faith is all about. Trusting.

God is so good! He is gracious and kind.

Recently, I found out that our choir had to sing at the church’s 10th Anniversary. I was a little upset because to be honest, I didn’t want to do it. But, this morning God reminded me of why I should be there.

In Psalms 149:1
“Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song. Sing His praises in the assembly of the faithful.”

My job is to do His will. His will is that I glorify Him in the church. So, thank you Lord for being gracious and loving and kind. Thank you for showing me why I need to be there this weekend.

Looking forward to today!

In His Grace,
Johnnie

Challenged by God

June 21, 2006

It seems appropriate today to reprint what I wrote on October 28, 2003. Sometimes it is good to look back on where He has brought you from to where you are today. It is important though to not stay there too long so that you can keep moving forward.

=================================

Romans 8:15
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

========================================

Have you ever been challenged by God to do something that you know you can't do. How did you handle the situation? Did you have fear, doubt and unbelief?

We've all been there before, lost, not sure of where to go, but knowing that God has spoken to us about something in our life. Do we start saying, "I can't do that? I don't know how to do that? I have no idea where to start?" Or do we ask God to show us what I'm supposed to do next. When we know the nature of God, we know that he will never give us a Word, without a way to fulfill it. Sometimes God answers us with His church, other Christians.

Recently, I had a place in my life where I was not sure that God called me to do something. I was doubting myself. When I was talking to my friend about this and explaining the situation she said to me, "So does that mean you don't believe God?" I said, "Of course, I believe God!" Then she said, "Don't you know that God wouldn't call you to do something or give you something unless He gives you the ability and power to do it?" Boy, did that hit me like a ton of bricks! Wham, right on the side of the head! I was thinking of what I could do – which wasn't much, and not what God CAN do – which is ANYTHING!

Did you know that God is calling you to do something that is "God-sized" that is beyond your ability but not His? That God will not call you to do something that isn't going to show His glory in the end? Think about what He has been asking you to do that is God-sized. Are you thinking you can't do it?

I have to remember Proverb 3:5-6. It says to trust in the Lord and lean not unto your own understanding, but in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.

What a revelation! His Word is still showing me The Way…

Mind to Work

June 19, 2006

I keep replaying in my head about having a mind to work (Nehemiah 4:6). Doesn't that have to do with Vision?  Because you have a vision and you have to have the mind to work the vision — don't you?

I found this too regarding the mind…

Numbers 16:28
And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.

The vision must come from God. How do I get the vision from God. I believe that it is through fasting and prayer.

More on this later.

Vision

June 16, 2006

The Lord has been dealing with me and trying to get me to understand vision.

I don't believe that I have ever really thought about having a vision. But boy, when you have two preachers speaking to you at once about the same thing — God MUST be giving me a message.

Paula White this morning said..

"Vision is a mental vision of your future state."

My pastor said this morning, "Sometimes your vision clears as you go."  (Scripture reference:  Mark 8:22-25).

Hmmm….
